Yellow Jackets Pull Back to Even with 4-3 Victory
|
Georgia Tech right-hander Raśl Garza pitched his team to victory over the Indiana State Sycamores at Pit Vipers Ballpark. The final score was 4-3. In 5 innings, Garza surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Jason Love locked down his 5th save.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the first inning when the Yellow Jackets sent teenager John Gregg to the plate against Sycamores hurler Walter Smith. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a home run off a 2-1 changeup to score 3.
"If I do my job, we've usually got a pretty good chance to win the game," said Gregg.
Georgia Tech currently is in 11th place in the Ron Fraser Division at 22-22.
