Cyclones Get 4-2 Win Versus South Carolina
The Iowa State Cyclones knocked off the South Carolina Gamecocks, 4-2, at Forney College Grounds. Johnny Kenney, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Iowa State won. The first baseman was 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Iowa State reliever Dylan Anderson was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Keith Hull took the loss for South Carolina. Armando Rodríguez closed the game out for Iowa State, earning his 3rd save.

Kenney had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-2 fastball from Keith Hull, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Cyclones a 4-2 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Kenney.

"Baseball is a funny game," said Kenney. "You've got to keep battling until things fall your way."

Iowa State is now 17-25.
