Bulldogs Slip Past Ohio State, 4-3
|
Ohio State pitcher Bill Mathew gave the Bulldogs all they could handle, but in the end, Georgia left Field of the Plunder with a 4-3 win. Mathew allowed no earned runs on 1 hit over 6 innings. The Bulldogs saw their win-loss record go to 23-17. At the same time, the Buckeyes fell to 18-23.
Wilford Taylor found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Ohio State hurler Tommy Snow, the 19-year-old first baseman hit a sacrifice fly. His 9th RBI of the season put the Bulldogs on top, 4-3.
"We came out with the short end of the stick," said Ohio State skipper Doug Dickey.
