Black Knights Cut Down Hitmen, 4-1
|
Brooklyn got a strong outing from Wilson Deleón as the Black Knights defeated the Chicago Hitmen, 4-1, at Blue Ivy Stadium. Deleón, now 6-3, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 6, and allowing 1 earned run. The Black Knights go to 27-33, putting them 5th in the Roberto Clemente League William Atteberry Division.
In the top of the eighth, Jorge Sánchez stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Hitmen were trailing 4-1, but had the bases loaded. That's when Manuel Guerrero made a terrific pitch and Sánchez struck out. Gone was the dream of a Chicago comeback.
