Arkansas Beats North Carolina, 5-2
|
North Carolina pitcher Vaughn Byerly gave the Razorbacks all they could handle, but in the end, Arkansas left Ramparts Ballpark with a 5-2 win. Byerly allowed no earned runs on 1 hit over 5 innings. Mark Conway got the win, improving to 1-2. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 7 hits and 1 run, while striking out 6 and walking 3. Picking up the save was Edward Benson, his 10th.
In the bottom of the 6th, designated hitter Alex House gave Arkansas the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Razorbacks had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out double off North Carolina pitcher Christian Jacobs changed that -- and Arkansas went on to win.
"We did enough to win," said House.
The 17th-place Razorbacks raised their record to 16-20.
