Oklahoma turned a good effort from starter Dave Wiley into a win over the Iowa State Cyclones at Forney College Grounds. The final score was 5-2. The winning pitcher was Wiley, now 2-2. He tossed 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Tim Perkins locked down his 7th save.
The Cyclones had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Sooners going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old right fielder Kyle White came to the plate. White hit a 3-run home run on a 1-0 cutter from Iowa State hurler Roberto Márquez. It was White's 8th home run of the year.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Wiley.
The Sooners raised their record to 19-17.
