Tigers Squelch Oklahoma State Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Missouri Tigers bested the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 5-0, at Ballpark of Ridge College. Sylvester Hartman was named player of the game. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Howard Carter was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed no runs on 2 hits, with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts. Mauro Rodríguez closed the game out for Missouri, earning his 1st save.
When the Tigers needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Hartman who delivered. Facing Oklahoma State pitcher Tucker Griffin the bottom of the eighth with runners on 2nd and 3rd, Hartman hit his 1st home run of the year. It made the score 5-0.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Hartman. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
