Hornets Lose to Bombers, 6-5
|
The South Carolina Bombers scored a 6-5 win versus the Eureka Hornets at Bomber Ballpark. South Carolina pitcher Tom O'Day nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Ange Schmit picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Nobuhisa Sumita was tagged with the loss. Anupradana Agarkar recorded his 3rd save for South Carolina.
Fernando Castillo had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the eighth for the Bombers. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and South Carolina trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run single.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Castillo told the South Carolina News.
South Carolina, at 5-1, has sizzled in the early going.
