Stogies Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Armada
|
Fans at Lucky 7 Ballpark were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Quebec Armada take on the Havana Stogies.
The Havana Stogies topped the Quebec Armada, 4-2, with designated hitter Qian Thean playing a big role. Thean went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Stogies in the win. Getting the save was Teguh Suharto, his 8th.
Thean had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a full count fastball from Matsuyo Sanu, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Stogies a 4-2 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Thean.
"Good win for us," said Thean. "We'll lace up our cleats and go after the next one."
The 'W' lifts Havana's record to 34-25.
