The Iowa State Cyclones topped the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets by the score of 5-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to shortstop Jim Pennington. Pennington belted 2 home runs for the Cyclones on the day. Iowa State goes to 10-15, Georgia Tech to 11-13.

Pennington had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-1 fastball from Bill MacElligot, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Cyclones a 5-4 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Pennington.
