Victory Over Bulldogs Takes Oklahoma State to 14-9
|
Benefiting from the performance of Steven Thompson, the Oklahoma State Cowboys defeated the Georgia Bulldogs, 8-3. Thompson was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Cowboys. Oklahoma State reliever Tucker Griffin picked up the win, upping his record to 5-0. Jerry Milligan took the loss. The 8th-place Bulldogs have lost 4 straight games.
The Cowboys got a lift from catcher Tom Sawyer who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the second inning off Ernesto Lara. It was his 11th walk of the season and put Oklahoma State in front, 1-0.
"This was a good win for us," said Thompson. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
