Wake Forest Bats Go Silent in 1-0 Loss
|
Dedicated fans at Magistrates Ballpark weathered the storm to watch their beloved Tigers beat the Demon Deacans.
Rod Evans was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Clemson and Wake Forest. The right-hander was named the player of the game in Clemson's 1-0 win. The win was Ángel Villalobos's in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Mike Martin took the loss for Wake Forest.
Had Mike Hicks not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Hicks hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Tigers.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Clemson manager Júlio Santana.
At 9-11, Clemson is in 14th place in the Ron Fraser Division.
