Yellow Jackets Raise Rally Flag, Beat Florida State, 7-4
|
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets picked up a win at Castles Ballpark, knocking off the Florida State Seminoles, 7-4. Starting pitcher Raśl Garza, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Cameron Durbin picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-2. Dirk O'Keefe was tagged with the loss. Rick Parker closed the game out for Georgia Tech, earning his 7th save.
Georgia Tech third baseman Troy Shelton changed the complexion of the game in the bottom of the eighth. That's when he belted a grand slam home run off Dirk O'Keefe. His 1st home run of the season put Georgia Tech in front, 7-4.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Shelton said after the game.
Georgia Tech, at 10-8, occupies 9th place in the Ron Fraser Division.
