Crimson Tide Prevail, 6-5, Over South Carolina
|
Alabama beat South Carolina, 6-5. The win in part was due to catcher Wayne Ford, who nabbed player of the game honors. He slugged 2 home runs. Alabama reliever Steven Williamson picked up the win to move to 2-0. Will Bowman suffered the loss. With the win, the Crimson Tide improved to 13-4.
Alabama took the lead in the top of the sixth. With no one out and the bases loaded, Norberto Sánchez stroked a 2-run single to make it 5-3, Crimson Tide.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Ford told the Alabama Times. "Whatever it takes."
