Sycamores Sneak Past Gators, 5-4
|
The Sycamores had to overcome a good performance from Florida pitcher Roger Alexander to claim a 5-4 win at Pit Vipers Ballpark. Alexander went 5.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. Indiana State is 17th in the Ron Fraser Division with a record of 17-22.
The contest featured some late-game dramatics from Indiana State second baseman Jesús Romero. In the top of the eighth inning, with two out and the bases loaded, Romero drew a walk, driving in 1 run to help Indiana State seize the win.
"I just try to bring what I bring to this team," said Romero.
