Cyclones Pin 3-2 Loss on Salukis
|
Iowa State beat South Illinois at Forney College Grounds, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Armando Rodríguez, who earned player of the game honors. Jesse Craig sewed up the save, his 1st. Iowa State is now 6-10, South Illinois 6-10.
Félix Sousa's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 2nd and the game tied, 2-2. The Iowa State second baseman hit a run-scoring single off Jeffery Fox to put the Cyclones up.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said South Illinois manager Sadao Nagahama.
