Pearson, Tigers Too Much for Hurricanes
|
The Missouri Tigers stopped the Miami Hurricanes, 11-7, at Ballpark of Ridge College. The Tigers got a big game from Víctor Pearson, who went 4-6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5. Darrel Butler got the win, improving to 1-2. He held the Hurricanes to 2 runs on 4 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Harry Bartlett recorded his 1st save for Missouri.
With a runner on 2nd and no one out in the bottom of the first inning, catcher Roger Washington delivered big for the Tigers. Missouri was leading 1-0 when he belted a 2-run home run.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Washington told the Missouri Times.
The Tigers, at 5-8, sit in 18th place in the Ron Fraser Division.
