Walk-Off Seals 24th Victory for Tigers
|
Auburn starter Mark Larson pitched effectively against the Vanderbilt Commodores at Ballpark of Barrow College. The right-hander led his team to a 4-3 win. Woody Gross got credit for the win, improving to 6-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. Auburn now sits in second place in the Ron Fraser Division at 24-12.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Auburn trailing 3-1, Jim Unknown hit a fastball from Peter Dunbar to left for a 3-run home run. Just like that, the Tigers had a walk-off win.
In comments to the Auburn Gazette, Unknown admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
