Volunteers Losing Streak at 6 After Extra-Inning Loss to Demon Deacans
|
The Wake Forest Demon Deacans downed the Tennessee Volunteers, 8-7, in 10 innings. Norberto Rivera led the way, going 4-for-4 for Wake Forest. The winner was Zachary Peterson in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Carl Bailey took the loss. The losses continue to mount for Tennessee, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
David Pierce provided some late-game drama. In the bottom of the tenth, with one out and the bases loaded, Pierce hit a run-scoring double. It helped Wake Forest take the lead and grab the win.
"I just love going out and having a big game," Rivera said when asked about being named player of the game. "It's an honor to have your talents recognized."
