Jayhawks Take Nail-Biter Over Bulldogs
|
The Kansas Jayhawks wiggled past the Georgia Bulldogs, 3-2, at Brutes Ballpark. Kansas pitcher Shawn Ward earned player of the game honors. The winner was Jim Unknown in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Sancho López took the loss. The last-place Jayhawks now have a win-loss record of 2-10.
Donald Stevens had the critical at-bat for Kansas. With two out in the bottom of the 12th inning, he hit a walk-off run-scoring single. It gave Kansas the 3-2 walk-off win.
"This win should put a little bounce in our step," said Ward.
