Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Salukis
|
The Salukis had to overcome a good performance from Michigan pitcher Vincent Roger to claim a 5-4 win at Field of the Shield. Roger went 8.2 innings and allowed no earned runs. South Illinois is 23rd in the Ron Fraser Division with a record of 3-8.
South Illinois pinch hitter Jim Unknown had a game-changing at-bat in the bottom of the tenth. On a fastball from Jim Unknown, he launched a solo home run. It gave South Illinois a 5-4 lead.
"Some of the guys in here work pretty hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Unknown told the South Illinois Herald.
