Jayhawks Continue Skid Thanks to Walters, Seminoles
|
The Florida State Seminoles grabbed a 11-6 win over the Kansas Jayhawks at Ballpark of Riverdale College. Florida State third baseman Andy Walters went 3-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 to earn player of the game honors. The winner was Dirk O'Keefe, who threw 81 pitches over 5.1 innings. The left-hander was charged with 4 runs on 8 hits. Kansas's current losing streak is now 4 games.
In the bottom of the 5th, the Seminoles grabbed the lead on a two-out double by Dennis Moran. Florida State at the time was trailing 4-3, but Moran's 2-run double off Scott Ramírez put his team in front.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Walters told the Florida State News.
