Salukis Lose Again, 6-5

Georgia and South Illinois took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
South Illinois first baseman Chris Webster was sensational. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Georgia beat the Salukis, 6-5. Webster was named the player of the game despite the loss. Alberto Ávila, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 1 innings. Sancho López picked up the save for Georgia, his 2nd of the year.
The contest featured some late-game dramatics from Georgia right fielder Doug Brown. In the bottom of the eighth inning, with no one out and the bases empty, Brown hit a solo home run to help Georgia seize the win.
"We bring energy to every game," said losing manager Sadao Nagahama. "But it's got to translate into wins."
The slumping Salukis have dropped 7 in a row.
