Buckeyes Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Ohio State Buckeyes eventually prevailed at Scandals Ballpark.
The Ohio State Buckeyes topped the South Carolina Gamecocks by the score of 4-3, with the largest share of the credit going to catcher Joe Porter. Porter went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Buckeyes. Ohio State reliever Jim Unknown picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Pedro Medellín took the loss. Jim Unknown finished the game for Ohio State and earned his 1st save.
Chris Griffin played a key role in the win. The Ohio State right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth. For the game, Griffin went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
Porter told a Ohio State Observer reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
Ohio State is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 3rd in 8 games.
