Jayhawks Get Road Win, 8-1

Kansas Jayhawks starter Shawn Ward had all his pitches working at Ballpark of Bloomfield College. His stellar performance paved the way for an easy 8-1 Kansas win over the Ohio State Buckeyes. Ward went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 8. His record improves to 1-1. The Buckeyes, now 2-5, have been pitiful so far.
The Jayhawks took the lead in the top of the second. With two out, Eric Sweeney hit a 3-run home run off Ohio State pitcher John Baker, putting Kansas in front, 5-0. For the game, Sweeney was 1-5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Doug Dickey.
