Missouri Topples Kansas, 7-0
|
Behind a solid performance from shortstop Cordell Payne, the Missouri Tigers defeated the Kansas Jayhawks, 7-0. Payne was 1-3 with a walk for the Tigers. The win pushes Missouri to a record of 3-2.
Missouri catcher Roger Washington helped the Tigers go up, 1-0, in the bottom of the third inning. With the game tied, Washington hit a run-scoring single off Kansas pitcher Dave Goodwin.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Nick Brown. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
