In a low-scoring game between the Georgia Grays and the Minnesota Berserkers, pitcher Wade White was masterful on the mound. The Georgia right-hander was named the player of the game in Georgia's 2-1 win. White, now 5-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 4, and allowing 1 earned run. John Jacobs sewed up the save, his 15th.
Had Abalendu Manglorkar not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Manglorkar hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Grays.
"Runs were at a premium," said Georgia manager Davey Morris.
Minnesota has now lost 4 consecutive games.
