Sawyer Shines in Cowboys Win
|
The Oklahoma State Cowboys stymied the South Carolina Gamecocks, 5-2, at Canaries Ballpark. Tom Sawyer, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He went 2-2 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for Oklahoma State. Ed Brooks closed the game out for Oklahoma State, earning his 1st save. With the loss, South Carolina sinks to 1-2.
Sawyer had a key at-bat for Oklahoma State early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and gave Oklahoma State an early 2-0 lead.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Oklahoma State manager Carlton Price. "Our pregame was pretty good."
