The Ohio State Buckeyes got a superb performance from pitcher John Baker. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Oklahoma. The Sooners won the game, 6-3. In spite of the loss, Baker was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings allowing 3 runs. Oklahoma reliever Spike O'Rourke was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Chris Lannigan took the loss for Ohio State. With the win, Oklahoma boosts its record to 1-1.
Oklahoma took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, Jim Unknown stroked a 2-run double to make it 5-3, Sooners.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Unknown told the Oklahoma News.
