River Chiefs Come Back Late to Top Jedi Knights
Chippewa beat New Orleans in a rain-soaked ballgame.

The Chippewa River Chiefs defeated the New Orleans Jedi Knights, 5-3, at The Republic. Chippewa first baseman Jang-lu Xiang was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. George Fortin Jr. picked up the save for Chippewa, his 30th of the year.

Doug Turner made it 5-3 in favor of Chippewa when he delivered a 2-run single. It came with two out in the top of the eighth. The River Chiefs went on to win.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Chippewa manager Bruce Leah.

The third-place Jedi Knights have lost 4 consecutive games.
