The Chippewa River Chiefs topped the New Orleans Jedi Knights, 9-4, with youngster Marcos Tovar playing a key role. Tovar went 3-4 with a triple, 2 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the River Chiefs in the win. The first-place River Chiefs, at 69-43, now lead their division by 3 games.
Flexing his muscles for Chippewa was Wang Tong. The designated hitter had a 2-run home run in the top of the first for the River Chiefs. It put his team ahead, 2-0, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Tong was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3.
