Victory Over Gnats Takes New Orleans to 65-42
|
In a low-scoring clash between New Orleans and Nichols, pitcher Romain Quere was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for New Orleans in the 3-2 win. Quere went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9. His record improves to 1-4. En-guo Guan picked up the save, his 6th.
José Gonzáles had a big run-scoring triple for the Jedi Knights in the bottom of the fifth inning. With New Orleans leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Pedro Alejo and stroked the triple to center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Jedi Knights ahead, 3-0.
