Morgan Delivers Walk-Off Win for Emeralds
|
Eugene overcame a superlative game from Declan Hollamby to beat Kingwood, 3-2. The Kingwood pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball. The Emeralds sit in first place in the Buck O'Neil League San Diego Chicken Division with a record of 66-41.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Eugene third baseman Nolan Morgan, facing Juan Yarrito, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Emeralds the 3-2 win.
"It was a test of wills," said Tom Becker, the Eugene skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
