The Eugene Emeralds eked out a 4-3 win versus the Kingwood Knights at Prefontaine Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Wilson Polk, who captured player of the game honors. Craig Wyman picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Kagetoki Ohayashi was tagged with the loss. Eugene is now 65-41, while Kingwood is 40-66.

The Eugene win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Roy Johnston. In the bottom of the fourth, the Eugene second baseman came to bat and hit a 2-run single. It staked his team to a 2-1 lead.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Eugene manager Tom Becker.
