Warriors Pin 7-4 Loss on Bloodhounds
|
Winfield third baseman Jim Bungay was instrumental in his team's 7-4 win over the Boise Bloodhounds. Bungay went 4-5 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Warriors. Norberto Bianchi, credited with the win, is now 2-4. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 2.2 innings. The win puts the Warriors at 57-48, while the Bloodhounds drop to 45-60.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the fifth inning when the Warriors sent teenager Ruy Cerca to the plate against Bloodhounds hurler David Engel. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a first pitch fastball to score 2.
Bungay said afterward that "winning is what it's all about."
