Eugene Hot Streak Continues with 3-1 Win
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Eugene Emeralds and the Victoria Vikings, pitcher Gerd Zabel was the difference between victory and defeat. The Eugene left-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-1 Emeralds win. The winner was Katsunosuki Suzuki in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Kevin Murphy took the loss. Jim Unknown earned his 1st save in 1 tries.
Flexing his muscles for Eugene was the aforementioned Zabel. The right fielder had a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first for the Emeralds. It put his team ahead, 2-0, and sent them on to victory.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Eugene manager Tom Becker. "It's usually not just one thing."
The wins continue to add up for Eugene, with the latest making it 7 in a row.
