Hapless Gnats Lose Again
The Coney Island Cyclones topped the Nichols Gnats, 6-4, in Buck O'Neil League action at Coney Island Coliseum. The player of the game was Coney Island pitcher and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native Chris Bacon. Coney Island reliever Wilber Matthews was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Valentim Carrapa. Nichols is in the throes of a 11-game losing streak.

Coney Island took a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out, shortstop Christophe Green hit a 2-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.

"We're in a funk right now," said Nichols skipper Quinn Patrick.
