Losing Streak Continues for Gnats with 2-1 Loss
Yasukazu Kouda never let Nichols get something going. The Eugene right-hander commanded his curveball in pitching the Emeralds to a 2-1 win. The losses continue to add up for Nichols, which has now fallen 8 times in a row.

A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the fourth inning when the Emeralds sent teenager Masayuki Kimura to the plate against Gnats hurler Kazuhiro Kamida. With the bases empty and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a home run off a first pitch curveball to score 1.

"I really like what we did out there today," Kouda said after the game.
