The rain came, as predicted, but the Chippewa River Chiefs and Nichols Gnats were able to complete their ballgame.

The Chippewa River Chiefs overcame a good performance by Nichols second baseman Jorge Guavara to knock off Nichols, 9-5, at The Reservation. Guavara was 4-4 with 4 singles, while scoring 3 runs. Chippewa goes to 58-37. The win puts them 4 games up in their division.

Chippewa took a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Jang-lu Xiang hit a clutch solo home run to bring River Chiefs fans to their feet.

"We'll enjoy this hot streak as long as it lasts," said Xiang.
