Dao-zi Chou was in top form in a low-scoring contest between New Orleans and Charleston. The left-hander was named the player of the game in New Orleans's 2-1 win. Chou, the winner, moves to 9-3. He threw 5 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 3 walks. Yoshikazu Ichihara, credited with the save, is now 11 for 15 in save opportunities.
New Orleans designated hitter Bruno Spear helped the Jedi Knights to the win. In the bottom of the third inning, the 19-year old right fielder stroked a run-scoring single. For the game, Spear was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Spear told the New Orleans Herald.
