Vikings Stay Hot With 6-2 Win
|
The Victoria Vikings beat the Nichols Gnats, 6-2, at The Pond. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Kyung-jin Yun, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Their 45-46 record puts the Vikings 5th in the Buck O'Neil League San Diego Chicken Division.
Phil Parker's at-bat in the top of the fifth was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 3rd and the game tied, 0-0. The Victoria catcher hit a 2-run double off Frank Strickland to put the Vikings up.
"Hitting, winning. It's just contagious," said Yun.
