Kingwood Knights starter Sawao Daikawa was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Nichols Gnats, 4-1. Kingwood reliever Dave Coffin got the win, raising his record to 4-0. Katsuyuki Noguchi was tagged with the loss. Javier González was credited with the save for Kingwood, his 15th of the season.

Runs were few and far between in this one. So, Steve Kessler's at-bat with two out in the top of the ninth was crucial. The Kingwood right fielder hit a 3-run home run, to give his team a 4-1 lead.

"I feel honored to be a part of this team," said Kessler.

Even with the win, the Knights have a dismal 30-58 record.
