The Nichols Gnats coasted to a win over the Winfield Warriors, 16-3. Ed Nelson had a good day at the plate for Nichols. He hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Thurman Snider picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 2 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 1-1. Valentim Carrapa earned the save for Nichols, his 2nd of the year.

With Nichols trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Nelson hit a fastball from Kevin Davis for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Gnats ahead, 2-1.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Nichols Gnats manager Quinn Patrick. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."

Nichols goes to 30-54, Winfield to 49-35.
