|
Coney Island overcame a superlative game from Mitsuzuka Nakano to beat Boise, 4-1. The Boise pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of shutout ball. The win was credited to Carl Cozens in relief. His record improves to 4-3. Robinson Merrado took the loss. Iwane Kaneko nailed down his 3rd save.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the tenth inning. With two out, Han Frommel hit a 1-0 cutter from Robinson Merrado for a 3-run home run. It put Coney Island in front, 4-1.
In postgame comments, Frommel said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
Boise's current losing streak is now 4 games.
