|
A 3-RBI performance from Gerd Zabel, who is rated as the 26th best prospect by BNN, helped the Eugene Emeralds beat the Charleston Panthers, 8-1. Craig Wyman earned the save, his 1st. The Emeralds go to 48-36, putting them 4th in the Buck O'Neil League San Diego Chicken Division.
Zabel had a key at-bat for Eugene early in the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and gave Eugene an early 3-0 lead.
"We had a nice day," said Eugene skipper Tom Becker.
