River Chiefs Curb Bloodhounds, 7-5
|
Chippewa River Chiefs starter Willi Kehr pitched a strong game against the Boise Bloodhounds at Grand Canyon Valley Park, leading the River Chiefs to a 7-5 win. Kehr picked up the win for Chippewa, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 5-5. George Fortin Jr., summoned from the bullpen, notched his 17th save.
With a runner on 1st and no one out in the top of the second inning, first baseman Wang Tong delivered big for the River Chiefs. Chippewa was leading 1-0 when he belted a 2-run home run.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Tong told the Chippewa Daily News.
