Tight Tilt Goes to Saints, 2-1
|
The St. Paul Saints and Charleston Panthers put on a pitchers' duel at Saints Ballpark.
The Charleston Panthers got a sterling performance from pitcher Eric Alexander, but the Saints still prevailed, 2-1. Alexander was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball. St. Paul goes to 40-31, Charleston to 26-45.
St. Paul grabbed control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 3rd, Brandon Sturgeon delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 2-1 in favor of the Saints.
"We came out with the short end of the stick," said Charleston skipper Todd Hall.
