Vikings Defeat Jedi Knights, 3-0

The Victoria Vikings and New Orleans Jedi Knights completed their game despite the inclement weather.
In a well-pitched game between the Victoria Vikings and the New Orleans Jedi Knights, pitcher Kevin Murphy was fantastic. The Victoria right-hander was named the player of the game in Victoria's 3-0 win. Murphy got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. Murphy allowed no earned runs. Enrico Vélez notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the sixth inning when the Vikings sent teenager Pedro Moreno to the plate against Jedi Knights hurler Ernie Henderson. With a runner on 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 2-2 fastball to score 1.
"I never try to think too much," said Moreno.
Victoria occupies 6th place in the Buck O'Neil League San Diego Chicken Division at 29-42.
