Warriors Drop Mustangs, 7-2
|
Winfield rode a fine outing from starter Ukessun Ilaes to victory over the San Angelo Mustangs at The Barn. The final score was 7-2. Conor Temple picked up the save for Winfield, his 6th of the year. Winfield occupies second place in the Buck O'Neil League San Diego Chicken Division at 44-28.
The Warriors got a big boost from right fielder Tsuneo Yoshida who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning off Mustangs hurler J.J. Crawford. It was his 3rd RBI of the season and put Winfield on top, 3-2.
Yoshida told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
