New York Mafia starter Curt Rhodes was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the So Cal Republic, 5-1. In 7.1 innings, Rhodes surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Mitchell Thompson was credited with the save for New York, his 1st of the season.

The contest featured some late-game dramatics from New York pinch hitter Keitaro Ojima. In the bottom of the eighth inning, with no one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Ojima hit a 3-run home run to help New York seize the win.

"It was a good effort all around," said Ojima.

Losses have been rare for the Republic, who are now 5-1.
